All parts of the ecosystem are interdependent, including animals and forests.
Animals and forests together make up a major part of a healthy ecosystem. A little ecological disturbance can damage the whole system. Unfortunately, being a part of it, we are also destroying our precious lives by bringing harmful changes.
Today’s blog is all about how wildlife is impacted by deforestation and how we can conserve it.
Why does animals need deep forestation?
Non-domesticated animals and non-cultivated plants make up the major part of wildlife. About 90% of Earth’s species are dependent on forestation. Animals require the forest to live peacefully with the following facilities.
- Wildlife is dependent on trees for oxygen, food, and shelter.
- Forest acts as a climate buffer. Animals also require forests to withstand climatic changes.
- It provides purified air for a healthy survival
- Trees provide animals a site for reproduction.
That being said, the forest also requires animals for seed dispersal and other ecological tasks. So, to achieve an ecological balance, both should be conserved.
How some animal species are becoming endangered?
Endangered animals are those whose populations are adversely affected by changes brought by humans to the environment. Hunting, overexploitation, and deforestation have led us nowhere but to the depletion of wildlife.
Gone are the days when we had enough forestation that kept ecological doors open for all living beings.
However, we are now throttling ourselves by transforming grassland into populated land. It has disturbed the balance of nature. Wild animals have lost their natural habitats, and few of them are at the risk of becoming extinct.
Some endangered species are mammals, birds, and reptiles, who are at the risk of extinction.
How to conserve wildlife?
We can conserve wildlife by not changing the environment animals need for survival. Here are some ways you can attempt to conserve wildlife.
- Create wildlife reserves.
- Establish parks to conserve the gene pool by providing the ideal environment for wild animals.
- Plant trees for harboring and nutrition. Animals require nuts, fruits, and leaves to thrive.
- Avoid using chemicals.
- Avoid fragmentation, habitat destruction, and degradation.
- Install birdfeeders, aquariums, and baths.
- Reduce landfill waste.
- Try to bring biodiversity by adopting endangered species.
- Understand the human impact on wildlife.
Why do humans require wildlife conservation?
- It improves mental health.
- Wildlife is a major source of food and medications.
- It also keeps us away from some diseases.
- It protects us from climatic changes.
- According to some beliefs, it holds cultural significance.
Final Thoughts
Forests are dependent on wildlife animals for seed dispersal. In return, it is dependent on the forest for food and shelter. And, this is how a healthy wildlife system is maintained. The two make an ecosystem healthy, humans need for their survival. It also provides us medicines, nutrition, and protection from some diseases.
